Workshop 1: Critical Care Bootcamp
Mark Sutherland, MD; Kami Hu, MD

The emergency provider is truly the first “intensivist” to deliver time-sensitive therapy to the critically ill patient. It is during these early hours of illness when lives can be saved or lost! We have focused this Bootcamp on common critical conditions encountered in the ED.

8:00am - 11:00am

Workshop 2: Basic Ultrasound
Jason Arthur, MD/MPH, FPD-AEMUS, FACEP

BASIC Abdominal US: Focused, goal directed US can be used at the patient’s bedside to answer specific clinical questions which could change the next step in management and expedite patient care. In this workshop participants will learn the basics of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for assessing common intrabdominal pathology, and how to employ it to answer clinical questions. Short didactic sessions will be followed by instructor led small group hands-on skill sessions utilizing live models.

8:00am - 11:00am

Workshop 3: Dental and ENT Emergencies
Jim Marinucci; Ryan Strauss, MPH, MSHS, PA-C

"Emergency and urgent care providers should have solid ENT and dental management skills, yet there are limited opportunities to develop proficiencies through hands-on learning.  This workshop will discuss common emergent ENT and dental conditions while participants learn procedural techniques required for their appropriate management.

EM and UC providers should have ENT and dental procedural skills, yet hands-on learning opportunities are scarce.  Participants will develop skills to manage foreign bodies, epistaxis, peritonsillar abscess, dental trauma, nerve blocks, ear injuries and more!"

8:00am - 11:00am

Workshop 4: Critical Procedures in Emergency Medicine
Steven A. Godwin, MD, FACEP

This course is designed to help practitioners meet a significant number of their procedural requirements listed for emergency medicine Certificate of Added Qualifications. We will provide expert instruction on procedural skills including ultrasound guided central venous access, lumbar puncture with and without ultrasound guidance, tube thoracostomy and needle decompression, intraosseous, paracentesis and arthrocentesis.

8:00am - 10:00am

Workshop 5: Basic EKG Interpretation
Susan Torrey, MD

Interactive workshop of systematic approach to interpretation of EKG, focusing on several important differentials.

Workshop 6: Advanced Ultrasound
Jason Arthur, MD/MPH, FPD-AEMUS, FACEP

Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) is a diagnostic tool used at the bedside to arrow diagnostic differentials and expediate clinical decision making. In this workshop, POCUS will be used to assess patients by building on basic ultrasound skills to take POCUS to the next level. Participants will learn ore advanced modalities including musculoskeletal, soft tissue, ocular and DVT ultrasound. Short didactic sessions will be followed by instructor led small group hands-on skill sessions utilizing live models.

3:30pm - 6:30pm

Workshop 7: Management of Acute Facial Injuries
Jim Marinucci; Ryan Strauss, MPH, MSHS, PA-C

Management of acute facial injuries should be a part of every emergency medicine and urgent care practitioner’s skill set.  This workshop empowers providers with the knowledge and skills needed to manage common facial injuries while reducing reliance on consultants or transfers.

This workshop empowers providers with skills to manage common facial injuries to improve outcomes while reducing reliance on consultants. Participants will practice facial exams, epistaxis management, facial nerve blocks, advanced suturing of facial wounds, and more!

3:30pm - 6:30pm
