Emergency Medicine PA Fellowship with Arrowhead Regional Medical Center

  • Curriculum:
The Vituity EMPA Fellowship at Arrowhead provides clinical and didactic instruction. The curriculum is structured modeled on the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Model of Clinical Practice, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) procedural guidelines, and the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) post-graduate training program guidelines. Didactic Curriculum includes over 100 formal didactic sessions designed to cover the NCCPA CAQ-EM topics list and more with over 4 hours of PA and Physician Resident level training weekly. Elements include:
    • Participation in professional development series: professional development lectures and mentorship in collaboration with leadership professionals.
    • Vituity Spring Symposium and Vituity Partnership Conferences: cutting edge updates in medicine, educational CME sessions and workshops, and opportunities to network for career advancement.
    • Morbidity and Mortality Conference (M&M): pedagogical cases are reviewed and discussed in a confidential forum.
    • SEMPA Conference: Fellows representing the program in the SEMPA bowl will attend this premier conference for EMPA’s offering emergency medicine updates, educational CME sessions and workshops.
    • Certifications: in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and completion of the California-Approved Controlled Substance Course.
    • Additional supplemental resources: Blueprint-ROSH Review and Educational Modules.

  • Clinical Rotations:
    15-months of full-spectrum emergency medicine hands-on training by PA-C’s and BE/BC Emergency Physicians. Elements include:
    • Onsite rotations in Anesthesia, Ultrasonography, Orthopedics, Respiratory Care, Pharmacology, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Burn Unit, Pediatrics.
    • Offsite rotations at San Bernardino Detention Centers, Emergency Medical Services, community Emergency Departments, Street Medicine, and Diabetic Youth Camp.

  • Credential: Upon acceptable completion of all requirements of the fifteen-month EMPA Fellowship at ARMC, the graduate will be awarded a certificate of completion.
