New York Presbyterian - Weill Cornell Medical Center Emergency Medicine PA Residency Program

Inception Date: 11/1/2011

Curriculum: Our Emergency Medicine PA residents start their training by participating in a two (2)-day national conference: Clinical Updates in Emergency Medicine along with obtaining certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support. This is followed by a one (1)-week orientation consisting of lectures and practicing clinical skills in the simulation lab. During the 14-month program, PA residents attend morning report on weekdays and a four (4)-hour weekly conference every Wednesday led by faculty and physician residents. PA residents present case studies, teach clinical procedures, and lead journal club sessions during our monthly meetings. Our simulation center is always available for them to practice their skills with ultrasound and performing advanced procedures. Throughout the year, PA residents complete quarterly take home tests and participate in a review session with our Education Director, Dr. Sam Senturia. Our 14-month residency program consists of 32 weeks of clinical work in the Adult & Pediatric ED and the remaining time spent on various rotations throughout the hospital.
