Regions Hospital Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Residency Program

 

Inception Date: 6/1/2012

Curriculum: The PA fellows study the core content curriculum required for EM physician board certification alongside the EM physician residents during weekly didactic conferences, which include lectures, critical case presentations, small group format, procedure and resuscitation simulation training, journal club and grand rounds.

Clinical Rotations:

  • 9.5 months of Emergency Medicine Rotations at Regions
  • 5 weeks SICU Rotation
  • 5 weeks MICU Rotation
  • 5 weeks Pediatric ED Rotation
  • 3 weeks Orthopedics/Plastic Surgery/Procedural Rotation
  • 4 weeks Hospital Medicine Rotation
  • 4 weeks Outreach Hospital/Single Provider ED Rotation
  • 2 weeks Elective Rotation
  • 3 weeks Toxicology Rotation
  • 2.5 weeks Ultrasound/Anesthesiology Rotation
  • 1 week EMS Rotation

Program Length: 18 months

Class Size: 3

Class start dates: March and June

Credential: Certificate

Stipend: Based on the physician intern stipend, adjusted annually

Benefits: Health, dental, short and long term disability, CME at level equivalent to the PA staff.

CME: ACLS, PALS, ATLS, FCCS, national conference attendance.
